Joseph Andras

Joe Andras is a partner at MASZ and has over twenty years of experience as a patent attorney.  He received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California in 1985 while working with Hughes Aircraft.  Joe then attended Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois, earning his J.D. in 1988.  Joe is admitted to the State Bar of California and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.  Joe is a member of the Orange County Patent Law Association, having served on its Board of Directors and as its President.

Joe is actively involved with litigation, prosecution, licensing and counseling.  Joe has worked on more complicated areas of patent prosecution, including patent interferences, reissue applications, appeals, and reexamination procedures.  Joe also has extensive experience in trademark prosecution and litigation.  Joe is frequently contacted to serve as local counsel for outside law firms requiring an intellectual property attorney who is also familiar with the local nuances of litigation in California.  Joe’s clientele is diverse, including publicly traded companies, mid-size companies, and start-ups. Joe also has experience working closely with Japanese clients on various intellectual property issues.  Joe’s work has taken him to Japan on several occasions.

Outside of the office, Joe spends time with his wife, Esther, and his sons, Christopher and Nicholas. Joe’s interests include mountain biking, fishing, photography, and USC football.
